Upgrade Your Molder with True Multi-Pass Capability
The Multi-Pass Conversion Kit upgrades Williams & Hussey molders manufactured prior to March 2006, allowing you to add true multi-pass cutting capability to your existing machine.
With multi-pass, you can cut deeper and wider profiles with:
- Less motor strain
- Reduced chatter
- Longer knife life
- Improved surface finish
- Greater control on hardwood and aggressive cuts
Beginning in March 2006, multi-pass became a standard feature. If your machine was built before that date, this kit allows you to add the same functionality to your molder.
Engineered and tested by Williams & Hussey, this conversion maintains proper roller pressure and feed alignment during incremental head adjustments — ensuring consistent performance and reliable results.
How Multi-Pass Cutting Works
Multi-pass cutting removes material gradually instead of in one heavy cut.
The molder head is first raised approximately 3/16″ above the stock to take a light initial pass. The head is then lowered incrementally — typically about 1/16″ per pass — until the final profile height is reached.
By spreading the cut across multiple passes, your Williams & Hussey molder:
- Operates more efficiently
- Reduces stress on internal components
- Minimizes vibration and chatter
- Produces cleaner, more consistent profiles
This is especially beneficial when cutting hardwoods, deep profiles, or wide moldings that would otherwise strain the motor in a single pass.
Why Multi-Pass Matters
Certain profiles cannot be efficiently or cleanly cut in a single pass, especially:
- Deep profiles
- Wide profiles
- Hardwood applications
- Aggressive material removeal
Multi-pass cutting allows the material to be shaped gradually, improving finish quality while protecting your machine from unnecessary stress.

Kit Options
All Multi-Pass Conversion Kits include the modified infeed swing arm assembly and longer springs required to maintain proper roller pressure during multi-pass operation.

Infeed Only Kits
- Modified infeed swing arm
- Infeed roller
Recommended for shops that primarily need controlled entry pressure.
Infeed & Outfeed Kits
- Modified infeed swing arm
- New outfeed roller
- Axles for full multi-pass control
Recommended for full multi-pass control on both infeed and outfeed sides.
Choosing the Right Roller Configuration
Yellow Roller
Best for:
- Short production runs
- Softer profiles
- Light single-pass cutting
Green Roller
Best for:
- Long production runs
- Multiple passes
- Profiles with sharp or delicate edges
Yellow/Green Combination
- Yellow infeed for strong grip on flat stock
- Green outfeed to better protect sharp profile points
Selecting the correct roller configuration helps maintain consistent feed pressure while protecting delicate profile edges.

Designed for Williams & Hussey molders manufactured prior to March 2006.
Multi-pass became a standard feature in March 2006. Machines built after this date already include this capability and do not require this conversion kit
This multi-pass conversion kit does not convert a variable-speed model into multi-pass. It is intended only for machines originally built without multi-pass capability.
