Guide 2: Feed Rolls Not Moving?

What To Do If the Arbor Is Turning, but the Feed Rolls Are Not

Sometimes, the arbor will spin, but the feed rolls won’t move. In that case, follow this checklist:

For Variable Feed Molders:

  • Inspect Chains and Sprockets
    • Make sure chains are tight and not slipping.
    • Confirm sprockets are properly aligned and secured.
  • Check Roller Axles
    • Ensure the axles are tight and not shifting out of position.
  • Check the Voltage to the Drive Board
    • Confirm voltage is reaching the drive board using a multimeter.

For constant speed molders only:

  • Examine the Fiber Drive
    • The most common issue is a worn or damaged fiber drive at the end of the arbor. Inspect it carefully and replace it if needed.
  • Open the Gearbox
    • Inspect the three internal gears for damage or wear. Replace if stripped or broken.
  • Inspect Fuses (Older Machines)
    • Check the control panel for blown fuses that may interrupt the feed system.
