(Late 1940s – Mid 1950s)

Founding and Early Years

Williams & Hussey Machine and Tool Co. was founded in the late 1940’s by Thurston Williams and Forrest Hussey of Wilton, New Hampshire. Initially, the company specialized in manufacturing pumps and auto parts. In the 1950s, it was acquired by The OK Tool Company, marking a new chapter in its development.

(Mid 1950s)

Shift to Woodworking

In 1954, Williams & Hussey introduced its first molder/planer models to the woodworking industry. The Model W7 hand-feed unit was the first to be manufactured, followed by the W7PF (power feed) and W7S (power infeed and outfeed) models.

(1950s – 1980s)

Expansion and Diversification

In the early 1960s, Williams & Hussey acquired J.G. Blount Company, a business established in 1888. The Blount line included industrial lathes and grinders, which were widely sold to school systems across the U.S. from Maine to California. However, the production of these lathes and grinders was eventually discontinued.

(1980s-2000s)

Refocusing on Molders

In the early 1980s, Williams & Hussey designed and marketed a woodworking lathe and vise. However, in 1987, under new ownership, the company discontinued these product lines to focus exclusively on its molder/planer line. By the early 1990s, this strategic shift proved successful, with the molder/planer line thriving.

(2020 – Present)

Relocations and Continued Success

In 2020, Williams & Hussey Machine and Tool Co. was acquired by OSC Technologies and relocated from Amherst, New Hampshire, to Britt, Iowa. Production of its signature line of molders, in-stock, and custom knives, and accessories resumed alongside its sister company, Original Saw Company—renowned for its American-made radial arm saws. The molder became a natural complement to Original Saw’s woodworking line.

Today, Williams & Hussey remains committed to excellence, quality, and superior customer support. Many of our molders, dating back to the 1950s, are still in use today. For over 66 years, we have provided replacement parts, upgraded components, and technical services to our customers. With thousands of molders sold across the United States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico, our legacy of building durable, long-lasting woodworking machines continues.
