What is a Multi-Pass System on a Molder?

The Multi-Pass System is designed to take lighter passes on deep profiles, hardwood profiles and wide cut profiles.  This eases motor tension, reduces wear and tear on knives and provides a smooth finish.

How does the Multi-Pass System work?

The Multi-Pass System allows the Molder head to be raised 3/16" above stock height to take a light first pass.  When making the second cut, lower the head 1/16" and take another pass.  Continue this operation until the desired stock height is reached.

Does my Molder have Multi-Pass capabilities?

Multi-Pass became a standard feature on all Molders in March 2006. Molders manufactured prior to this do not have this capability.  If you are unsure if your Molder has a Multi-Pass System, call the customer service line at (800) 258-1380 or email customerservice@williamsnhussey.com with your serial number and we can assist you.

Can a older Molder can be converted to have Multi-Pass capabilities?

Yes!  Add a Multi-Pass Kit. This kit is designed to fit on older Williams & Hussey Molders such as W7, W7PF, W7S, Original and 154 Molders. The longer springs and modified infeed swing arm keep pressure on the feed rolls to eliminate chatter and provide a smooth finish.

Which Multi-Pass Kit should I order?

There are four Multi-Pass Kit options.  

MPG-Infeed Only-K: Multi-Pass Modified Infeed Swing Arm Assembly. A green feed roll is recommended for long runs, multiple passes and profiles with sharp edges.

MPY-Infeed Only-K: Multi-Pass Modified Infeed Swing Arm Assembly. A yellow feed roll is recommended for short runs, single passes and profiles with soft edges.

MPY-In&Outfeed-K: Multi-Pass Modified Infeed Swing Arm Assembly and a new outfeed roll with outfeed axles. This kit contains 2 yellow feed rolls.  Yellow feed rolls are recommended for short runs, single passes and profiles with soft edges.

MPG-In&Outfeed-K: Multi-Pass Modified Infeed Swing Arm Assembly and a new outfeed roll with outfeed axles. This kit contatins 2 green feed rolls.  Green feed rolls are recommended for long runs, multiple passes and profiles with sharp edges.
