Description
Curved and Elliptical Molding Made Easy
The Williams & Hussey Elliptical Jig transforms your molder into a precision shaping system for changing-radius curves. Built with a CNC-routed HDPE plastic table for smooth stock glide and long-term durability, the jig replaces the standard tabletop and uses a floating and fixed bearing system to guide templates accurately through the cut.
Designed for repeatability and control, the Elliptical Jig allows shops to produce arched casing, elliptical trim, and architectural millwork that would otherwise require costly custom setups.

Watch the Elliptical Demo in Action
See the complete elliptical molding process in our W&H Molder Elliptical Demo video.
The demonstration shows:
- Elliptical template and stock preparation
- Knife setup in the cutterhead
- First pass (relief cut)
- Second pass (final profile cut)
- Smooth, controlled guidance using the bearing system
The two-pass process ensures cleaner cuts, reduced knife strain, and a professional finish on curved applications.
Expand Your Molding Capabilities
The Elliptical Jig extends your molder’s functionality beyond straight runs, allowing you to:
- Create curved and elliptical moldings in custom sizes
- Produce large elliptical spans for doors and windows
- Achieve smoother results than hand-shaping
- Maintain repeatable accuracy across multiple pieces
- Complete high-end millwork and restoration projects efficiently
Whether you’re a trim carpenter, cabinetmaker, or commercial millwork shop, this jig provides reliable curved-cut performance.
Key Features
Built for durability and precision:
- Compatible with all Williams & Hussey Molder models
- CNC-routed HDPE plastic table for smooth stock travel
- Heavy-duty steel construction
- Adjustable for various radii
- Handles moldings up to 6-1/2″ wide
- Floating and fixed bearing system for secure control
- Quick installation using existing mounting points
- Installs with two bolts
How the Cutting Process Works
The Elliptical Jig uses a custom MDF template to guide pre-shaped stock along the cutterhead. The template rides against the bearing system to produce a smooth, consistent elliptical profile.
For best results:
- Template and stock must match the knife profile width
- Secure stock with countersunk screws
- Allow 4″ lead-in and lead-out on both ends
- Minimum stock length: 9″
- Use fixed bearing positions for wider stock
- Position the inside radius on the open side of the machine
The process involves:
- A relief cut to remove excess material
- A final profile pass to complete the shape
- This method reduces tear-out and improves finish quality.
Installation & Compatibility
The Elliptical Jig replaces the standard molder tabletop and attaches using two pre-drilled holes in the molder bed.
Important:
If your molder bed does not have these holes, you will need the Hardware Bag for Elliptical Jig & Guide Systems for proper installation.
Always rotate the arbor by hand before operation to verify clearance.
