Key Features
Engineered with quality and performance in mind, the Elliptical Jig offers versatility and durability that professionals demand. Key design elements include:
- Compatible with all Williams & Hussey Molder models
- Constructed from heavy-duty steel for long-term durability
- Adjustable to accommodate various radii and moldings up to 6-1/2″ wide
- Includes floating and fixed bearing system for secure stock handling
- Supports fast, repeatable setup—swap with the molder table using existing mounting points
Cutting Process & Stock Preparation
To create elliptical moldings, the jig uses a custom-made MDF template to guide your pre-shaped stock along the cutterhead. The template follows the bearing system for a smooth, accurate cut.
- Use a template and stock that are cut to the same width as your knife profile
- Secure the stock to the template using countersunk screws
- Allow for a 4-inch lead-in and lead-out on both ends of the stock for clean entry and exit
- The minimum stock length is 9 inches
- The jig includes two fixed bearing positions to support wider stock
- For best results, position the inside radius of your workpiece on the open side of the machine
Setup Tips
Proper installation ensures safe operation and optimal results. The following steps outline how to set up the Elliptical Jig on your molder:
- Disconnect power before setup
- Remove the standard molder table and chip deflector
- Position the jig over the arbor and secure it to the molder bed
- Adjust bearing pressure using the included Acme screw system
- Set cutterhead height based on template + jig + stock thickness (e.g., 1.75″)
- Always spin the arbor by hand before the operation to check the clearance
Compatibility & Installation Notice
IMPORTANT:
The Elliptical Jig replaces the standard tabletop and attaches to the molder using two pre-drilled holes in the molder bed.
If your molder bed does not have these holes, you will need the Hardware Bag for Elliptical Jig & Guide Systems for proper installation. If needed, be sure to add the hardware bag to your shopping cart.
